Molymod features 17-23mm diameter spheres which can be assembled as open, semispacefilling or hybrid versions of any organic or inorganic compound. Atom geometries include univalent through to octahedral. Atom links are available in grey & purple in 2 lengths along with short white links for representation of covalent or ionic bonding.

Molymod Styles

Molymod Molecular Models can be assembled in three different ways: Open; Hybrid; Spacefilling. Each style has its own merits & most molecules can be built in any of them.

Open uses 20mm grey links for single covalent bonds & 35mm grey links for double and triple covalent bonds. This configuration tends to be most popular at the high school and junior college level. We offer the 62009 college organic chemistry set & the 62009EX extended college organic chemistry set in this style.

Hybrid is nearly the same as Open except that it uses the hemispherical Molydomes for hydrogen & 2mm links to connect to all other atoms. We offer 2 student versions in this style, the 62053 University Organic Chemistry Model Set & 62035SP Utlimate Organic Chemistry Model Set, intended for either chemistry or biochemistry majors or pre-med students.

Spacefilling uses Molydomes for hydrogen & 2mm links for all covalent bonds. This style is popular mainly in biochemistry. The 62035SP Utlimate Organic Chemistry Model Set, can be used for this or the dedicated 62007 Teacher's Biochemistry Model Set.
