Permanent Magnets
Strong MagnetsRare earth magnets resist demagnetization, are compact and have lots of sticking force.
They come in disks, slabs, blocks, rods & rings.
Weak Magnets: Educational UseEducational magnets have clearly marked north & south poles and are used to teach concepts related to the nature of magnetic fields. Steel magnets are weak and intended for simple attraction experiments involving compasses, iron filings and light objects such as paperclips. We offer ferrite bar magnet for repulsion experiments.
Magnetic Field ViewersThe presence of magnetic fields can be shown in several ways. The simplest are iron filings & compasses which work best with steel bar magnets. For the more sophisticated or adventurous user, try the magnaprobe. It has a delicately mounted magnet that moves in 3D space in response to a magnetic field.
Magnetic AccessoriesMagnetism also has its fun side. The wands, chips, marbles and floating magnets are ideal for kids while the Lenz's law is an interesting demonstration of the Hall effect.
